Fall is a great time for preschoolers to use their creative imaginations and explore. There are lots of different colors to see as the leaves are changing colors, and lots of adventures to be had. One of the things about fall is all the fun you can have indoors. Arts and crafts and fun fall activities can be a great way to keep your children entertained this season. Below are some ideas on what you can do to have fun.
Make Your Own Candy Apples
Who doesn’t love candy apples? Whether they’re the coconut candy covered apples or the sweet sticky caramel apples, they can be fun to eat. Preschoolers love sweets, and the apple provides some nutrition at the same time. This can be a great arts and crafts activity to do in the fall. All you need are apples, caramel, candy, and toppings such as peanuts and coconuts. Allow the kids to make their own apples and mix the flavoring and toppings the way they like. Then place the apples on a cookie sheet with wax paper and allow them to dry. Once done, you can wrap them in cute decorative plastic bags with a ribbon at the bottom. This makes for a great treat for later.
Bob for Apples
Preschoolers love being silly and having fun. An age old game that everyone can relate to would be a great solution. Bobbing for apples is silly, creative, and a whole lot of fun. Get a large bin, fill it with water. Then you will need to get apples and place them in the water. Line your preschoolers up boys vs. girls. Then you will need to blindfold them and watch them bob for apples! The team that gets the most apples wins! They will have so much fun trying time and time again to get those pesky apples.
Decorate a Pumpkin
Another timeless arts and crafts project for the fall is letting preschoolers paint pumpkins. Making silly or scary faces on a pumpkin can be so much fun. All you need are some cool colored paints, nice sized pumpkins, and some paint brushes. You can trace faces, or allow them to make their own! If you want, you can have decorative accessories such as glitter, buttons for noses, and whatever else your children want on their pumpkins. Once the pumpkins dry you can decorate your front lawn with them.
Make Pumpkin Pies
Making a pie can teach preschoolers so many things. It is also a great way to bring fall smells into a room. Assign little helpers and begin making a delicious pie from scratch. They get to learn about measurements, working together, and following instructions. They also get to taste a piece of their wonderful cooking once the pies are ready.
If you’re really looking for a good time, you can have a preschool fall festival and include all of the above activities into one fun filled day. There are lots of things to be done this fall, so get out and enjoy yourself.
