A site for my favorite season!

As part of your healthy changes this fall, do you want to improve your time management and productivity? If you do, we’re here to help! These tips will help you to manage your time a little better, not just to get more work done, but so you also have downtime and plenty of rest.

Try Out a New Method of Productivity

For better time management this fall, consider adding a new style of productivity, or a new method to use. For example, if you have a habit of spending too much time on one task, and not enough on the next, then time blocking will probably benefit you. This is when you select certain blocks of time to dedicate to one type of task. You do as much as you can within that time frame, then move on to the next.

Another excellent productivity method is when you put your list of tasks in order of priority, and tackle the highest priority ones first. Not only do you get the most difficult items off your list early in the morning, but this raises momentum to keep you motivated for longer.

Focus on One Task at a Time

Now is the time to stop multi-tasking, and instead focus on just one task at a time. It often seems like multi-tasking would help you get more done and use your time wisely, but the opposite is usually true. If you are trying to do more than one thing at any given time, you aren’t giving your full attention to any task. This can cause your focus to constantly be shifting and actually making it harder to get things done. You are taking longer than if you got through each task before moving on to the next one.

Reassess Your Daily Schedule

It is also a good idea to look at your daily schedule and routines, and figure out how to optimize it a little better. Look at when you wake up and when you go to sleep, what breaks you get during the day, how you spend your free time, and what work tends to take more time or focus.

The more you understand about your work and your schedule, the easier it becomes to use that time wisely.

Allow for Downtime

Downtime is important year-round, but fall is a good time to remind yourself you need rest and self-care. As you work on tweaking your daily schedule, don’t just fill every block of time with work. You also need rest, which can actually help you stay more productive.
