Flowers for an Autumn Table Centerpiece

Autumn is a great time to change the tone and decor in your home and get ready for the cool weather ahead. In fact, autumn is the season for entertaining and gathering together.

From Halloween, to Thanksgiving dinner, the fall is about family and times spent together. When visitors come to view your home, one of the first things that catch their eye is the centerpiece. There are lots of things you can use from nature to bring your centerpiece to life, including, but not limited to flowers. Below you will find a few ideas on how to add fall flowers to your decor for color and design.

Gerber Daisies

Daisies can be very beautiful flowers to look at in the fall. A great way to add some appeal to your ordinary daisies is to place them in a pumpkin shaped vase. Where do you get one of those? You go to the grocery store and get a pumpkin of medium size. Empty the pumpkins contents and paint the pumpkin whatever color you want. Place the Gerber daisies in the vase for a beautiful fall look.

Chrysanthemums

A fall favorite flower is a chrysanthemum. They come in so many different sizes, colors, and shapes that you can really get creative in the way you decorate them. Again, using a pumpkin as a vase for the centerpiece, place a good amount of chrysanthemums in the vase. Since chrysanthemums do better in the sunlight, these might be great pieces to place in your window or on your front porch for more curb appeal.

Millet

Millet is another naturally dried flower that looks great on display. Get a clear colored vase and add nature to your centerpiece for a more outdoorsy look. Place some millets, different grasses, and berries to the piece for a great design. If you want to take it a step further, go to your local craft store and add pieces such as fake crows to the bouquet for a more spooky effect around Halloween.

Sunflowers

These beautifully colored flowers are just timeless for the fall. Sunflowers can bring a lot of color and life into a room. However, for this centerpiece instead of going the natural yellow color you can dye them to add a bit more color to your decor. In order to dye sunflowers you will need to start by cutting them from the stem, place them into some water inside a glass vase. Add both plant food and food coloring into the vase and allow the flowers to sit. After a few short days your flowers are now colorful and vibrant and ready to be placed wherever you would like.

So these are just a few of the best flowers to use this fall for your home decor and centerpieces. For those who don’t want to continue replacing flowers, you can purchase artificial flowers from your local craft stores. They will likely have tons of colors for you to choose from to make your centerpieces stand out. When the season is over, store them carefully so that you can use them again next year.
